Overall it was a decent job, the pay however is to low. Customer service department is on the front line yet under valued for the work and amount of student/tutor inquiries they have to deal with. Hence why they have a high turn over. Lots of people an IT, no idea what any of those people do considering the platform has so many issues. Free Snacks, Drinks, you get a beer on fridays, $10 daily lunch stipend. Students are often looking for free deals, which is not due to Wyzant. I had a set fee, and some students would barter with me and try to get free study time. Wyzant can't control this. So, its a good company but it's not steady work. Also, you set a fee and Wyzant takes their cut from your set fee, so if you charge a certain amount per student that is not what you get paid. Also if your student is a no show, or decides not to pay, you dont get paid for your time tutoring. Make your own schedule Not steady, easy for the client to scam the tutor. They also resolve any payment concerns so the teacher gets paid. Very well organized company. I also like the idea of being tested for the subjects that I want to teach. I was recommended Wyzant as a side hustle. The jobs are very competitive, first come first serve. Your salary starts out small if you have limited experience or if the subjects you teach are very niche. You can determine what hours you work and whether you want to get more new students or not. In addition, they only pay 75% of the earnings to the tutors. Tutors on Wyzant's platform are classified as independent contractors. The company has a review team that is laced with dishonest people. If you have to work on the platform, understand that they will terminate your account for any reason, even if it is on false claims. I do not recommend using or working for the company.
