It looks like there were some misunderstandings along the way, so let me dive into each of the topics you raised:\n\nProject choice and rates -- no one is ever forced into a project or a rate, every X-Team developer is pitched a team to join that meets the rate they're looking for, and can accept or reject it until we've presented one they love. On the very rare occasion someone finds themselves on a team they'd like to leave or their rate expectations change and that team's budget can't support it (also rare), we are always open to finding you a new opportunity within X-Team. The key is communication and letting us know and escalating to anyone in management (like myself) or People Ops when needed. \n\nManagement communication -- Continuing on that point, myself and People Ops are always available via Slack, XHQ, e-mail, etc. to escalate any concerns you might have. I can also be found throughout the community, it's where I spend most of my time and always will. We also survey every X-Teamer every 2 weeks to check in your wellbeing, project, growth, and productivity to get a pulse on how you're doing and reach out to anyone needing support. I truly wish we'd been contacted about your concerns, as I'm confident we could have resolved all of them. We'll look for new ways to create even more communication lines to avoid this.\n\nCareer advancement -- I absolutely agree that developers want to grow their career, and there are countless examples of X-Teamers who have worked with us for 5, 10, even now 15 years who have advanced their skills, position, hourly rate and more. When an X-Teamer tells us about their growth goals, we always work with them on a path to achieving them. Our 2-week survey includes the \"Growth\" check-in question for this very reason to make sure we know you're growing the way you want to be. And anyone who feels stuck can always escalate to myself or People Ops to get further support on this, something I wish had happened in this case.\n\nCommunity activities -- Slack games, Vault collectibles, X-Outposts, charity drives, Bounties, and our many Events are all optional activities that are there for those who are looking for support to stay energized when they need it. They are all secondary though to our 1st priority: providing stable, long-term projects that align with your rate expectations and allow you to live the life you seek. We encourage every X-Teamer to provide us with feedback every 2 weeks (via our 1-on-1 surveys) to make sure we're always aligned together on their team situation.\n\nToptal and BairesDev -- Both of those companies also provide job opportunities and can be a great option as well for any developer. The first of the 3 that actually understands what it means to create a community of skilled folks who don't hate going to work everyday. Work on only one client project at a time. Given the freedom to take ownership of client project. Company activities, community, and programs make you forget you are working and make you think you are just spending time with friends. You are trusted, listened to, and supported by management. Fully remote all the time. Instead of putting time and money into making the company look good on the outside, the time and money is put into making the company awesome on the inside.
