A very free atmosphere yet with very motivated Japanese professionals. More like a mix of global entity with a Japanese structure. If you are a "go-getter type" but you still want to work in a Japanese style comapny, this is a place for you. As most Japanese companies require fine details about small operations, if you'd like to follow your heart and creative intuition, this can probably be a good place for you. The environment requires serlf-discipline and high sense of self responsibility... with freedom, always comes a price. As the technology and product/service is in a niche yet very competitive zone, it is crucial to be able to make your own decisions and be assertive about communicating your personal career goals and work style preferences. As the Japanese market requires a lot of "re-dedfining" many of the core technologies must be "dumbed down" or in a better expression "be simplified". There for you will need to hone up your skills to communicate techonological aspect to many of the team members. All developers have a lot of freedom in choosing what to work on and how. Dev team is working hard to keep the code quality high. No quick and dirty solutions. A lot of interesting projects and opportunities to learn new languages or technologies. No hard deadlines, overtime or working on weekends. Pretty much stress-free. All Japanese national holidays are respected and there's a lengthy vacation around New Year. Japanese employees are very helpful in regards to finding apartment, helping with Japanese documents and all things related to visa/insurance/pension etc. Flexible work time. Travel expenses are covered, if you need to buy something for work, it will be covered too. Adequate compensation with plenty of opportunities for salary raises. Would be good to have more vacation days. Not much to say here, They are flexible, it is probably related to their inability to fulfill their engagements. The CEO, Suguru Sakanishi, and the CTO, Jonas Rydenhag, are both completely irresponsible professionals. They are unable to respect a contract and put people in dangerous situations without considering any side effect. The office in is a central location, The topic is interesting They made me leave a stable situation to join them. After a few months they told me they couldn't pay me at the salary we initially agreed. It is actually even worst since they initially wanted me to sign a non compete agreement which I hopefully refused. They knew from the beginning they wouldn't be able to sustain so they tried to frame me. Needless to say, they refuse to pay the wage of the last month which was part of our contract. They will most likely try to take advantage of you being a foreigner to deny your working rights in Japan. Technically speaking, You'll most likely work alone and should expect to spend a big part of your time to explain the technical details to persons who do not have the relevant background instead of building models. Working conditions, The office is very noisy and almost all the furniture are broken. To sum up, there are plenty of great ML companies hiring in Japan, Yaraku is not one of those.
