- A lot of great people to work with
- If you are in a entry level position you will gain valuable work experience
- Flexible hours

- Very high turnover rate from people leaving for other opportunities, but mostly because they cut people that doesn't fit their visions
- Because of the company's indecisiveness, customers have left and switch to a better service company.
- They pay below industry standard and they avoid talking about performance based raise or any incentives, in fact its a taboo for them.
- Upper management tends to play more than work. I witness multiple times managers just gossip for hours straight and not work
- Owners lost focus on the customers needs as they tend to focus on their immaculate image
- Over promise and under deliver is the theme they operate

Always have a second plan, Really hard to fit it in with the high turnover rate specially of leaders leaving unfinished blueprints, CEOs and HR tend to control the narrative of every situation without stating facts. Role scorecards and kpis are mostly inaccurate and confusing.
Can get a stressful to come in everyday if you are not part of “the chosen few” the rest it’s just people that works really hard and are really good at their job. Yardstick isn’t looking to develop any one just worked them really hard and change plans after.

- the product serves a good, meaningful purpose
- the people are inspired and hard working
- variety of unique skills and educational backgrounds make for interesting learning potential

- lots of support and encouragement in furthering your career

- rapid changes throughout entire spectrum of staff has made for an insecure work environment
- competing, seemingly incoherent shifts in process has effected productivity and confidence in management and leadership
- leaderships inflexibility and unwillingness (mainly due to unwarranted prejudice) to open up to modern work/life paradigms leaves much to be desired in a workplace (working from home, flex hours, vacation flexibility)
- they talk about culture, but it's like any other company, some cool things, a lot of forced positivity...nothing is obligatory, but it's looked down upon to not involve yourself

- actually listen to your employees, not just pay lip service
- wake up and smell the yerba mate...times are changing for the workplace, if you refuse to change with it, talent will leave, and no new talent will want to come
- more management/leadership/sales than development team is a sign of a top heavy company.

I have diverse professional experience in other industries and I can honestly say that I have never worked for an organization that is so responsive to the culture and actively engages where they can to support their people.

While increases take a bit longer to receive, I believe that they truly do compensate fairly with industry reviews and research as well as considering quality and consistency of performance. It may take longer to get, but when you do - it is fair and considered in great detail - not a dart at a dartboard method.

The CEO is spending more time focusing on his garbage dumpster business than Yardstick. I’ve overheard leadership say nobody is irreplaceable and it would be good to shake the tree once in a while. If you are one of those few that hold a key role keep in mind that they look at you like you’re holding their company at ransom.
They “won” a Canada’s most admired cultures award and proudly show this off. Admired by who I wonder? Since during my time there none of the staff were interviewed by the award givers. Like most of these things it’s just smoke and mirrors and if you actually get to see behind the curtain you’ll find out that their core values and public culture is all a facade. Core values are plastered all over the place but if you action one of them against the owners look out. Now that they’ve gotten rid of most of their executive things have gone further downhill. When the owners rarely do parachute in from their sky palace across the street it’s most often to show off their cool office space to visitors or walk around trying to make people feel uncomfortable.
In short Yardstick is a house of cards that is not what it seems from the outside. If you do go to work there, get your job experience quickly, flush out your resume, and go find a company that really does care about its people.

*The company is growing and expending to multiple industries and markets. It is a great place to learn and grow, lots of opportunity if one works really hard.
* Good staff training options.
* Ideal for a first job out of college, one can be given a chance.
* Lots of smart, passionate and hard-working people, with good values and ready to help each other.
* The open door policy is pretty well respected.
* Open fridge on Fridays, free beer and snacks. BBQ in Summer.
* Matching RSSP, good benefits.

* High turnover, especially if you are not 150% committed to them. Within the last year, in one of the office about half of the employees quit or got dismissed.
* Company focused on growth only, that can lead to unhappy customers or staff.
* Cheap company that pays below average salary, low chances of getting a raise (they always seem to have an excuse)
* Some departments are not stable : many changes in the job duties or managers.
* Unprofessional behaviours being ignored or initiated by the management team.
* Young (ish) company that does not reward enough long-term (+10-15 years) employees.
* The culture isn't as great as they promote it.
* They ask their employees to leave good reviews to balance the bad ones they receive.

Start recognizing how hard your employees work with actual rewards and give them the compensation they deserve.
Pay closer attention to certain behaviours that seem harmless but are unprofessional and toxic.
Encourage genuine team-building activities and do not let the "boys club" spirit being the model of the company culture.
Although they learned from one big mistake already, just listen more to your customers and team before making an important decision.
