When something goes wrong, there's a lot of scapegoating. Someone ends up under the bus, even in front of the client. People show up at 11am and work until 8-9pm. This isn't easy for people with children. There's pressure to be responsive to internal company communications at all hours of the day and night, though this is never spelled out as a job requirement. There's very little management; your boss is an absentee. As a result, there's a lot of turnover. Another result is that things which would be considered "101" at other companies are handled poorly at YinzCam. At Christmastime, my company purchases and gifts toys to deserving children. Each staff gives 2-4 suggestions for toys which we believe will be enjoyed by children of different ages. Every body in the company cares about this special activity, we all participate and give toy suggestions. Then, the company has purchased our suggested toys and presented them to children going through cancer treatments. It is quite an honor to be part of this company with these social values. private:yinzcam https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=1166621 Nov 9th, 2018 12:00AM Open Open YinzCam Pittsburgh, PA Abandon all hope, ye who enter here… Paid parking Free snacks and drinks (if/when available) Great health coverage Decent amount of PTO (which is sometimes restricted months at a time) Flexible core office hours (with the expectation that you are reachable/readily available to work 24/7) Severely understaffed Unofficial company motto: Just grab the lowest-hanging fruit Immoral CEO with an inflated sense of self-importance who is incapable of giving/receiving constructive criticism, consistently and openly lies to employees and clients, and hypocritically claims to care about her employees and their happiness while blatantly doing nothing to address the serious growing concerns she has been hearing from employees and actively contributing to/supporting a perilously harrowing and degrading work environment Organizational structure with no room to grow and no levels of middle management between staff and “executives” Environment in which paranoia, emotional terrorism, and constant manipulation run rampant and unchecked Overambitious and unrealistic deadlines and expectations Laughable project management/ownership (or lack thereof) Embarrassing recruitment/hiring process Rapid turnover across all teams Zero respect for personal time and no concept of boundaries (professional or otherwise) Company morale at an all-time low and continues to drop; management’s solution is to provide unhealthy complementary snacks and lunches every once in a while Incredibly toxic company culture built upon a volatile mixture of unfounded hubris, constant back-channelling (internally and externally), and dangerously power-hungry management Archaic company policies that have not changed to accommodate “growing” size of the company -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 20.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 0.0 1.0 1166621 Open Stop lying. Stop toying with peoples’ lives. Stop leveraging peoples’ weaknesses and emotions as a way to get what you want. This isn’t a game. Wake up and smell the Founder’s Syndrome before you’ve passed the point of no return and run the company completely into the ground. Start meaning what you say and saying what you mean. Be more proactive. Start actively listening to, reflecting upon, and *doing something meaningful* about the criticism your employees are giving you and have been giving you for years. You will continue to lose good, well-meaning people because of your inane desire to maintain control at all times. Stop expecting undying loyalty and start earning it. Each new hire is a human being, not a lottery ticket you’re hoping will turn into your next loyal serf. Be humble. No one likes virtue-signaling. People especially do not like working for someone who does it profusely either. Stop setting projects, employees, and the company up for failure and then swooping in at the eleventh hour, “rallying the troops,” and showboating the company’s “triumph” as anything but what it really is: self-flagellation in the name of martyrdom. Most importantly though, please stop manipulating your more vulnerable/malleable/obsequious employees into doing your dirty work. Writing your own Glassdoor review is in poor taste, and pitting employees and entire teams against one another is petty and childish. Here’s the ugly truth: There’s a lot of potential in what this company does (and could do), and there are a lot of talented, hard-working employees who have a vision of a better YinzCam…but you’ve squandered it all. Your pride and refusal to do what is right for the company (often opting, instead, to do what is right for yourself) have been afflicting those around you whether you’re aware of it or not. Your employees are smarter than you think; the way you’ve been running this company has soured your reputation and destroyed your relationships with the people with which you are intimately connected. Your feeble attempts at retaining employees and enticing others to join a company choked by pettiness and lassitude will continue to fail if you don’t make a drastic change soon.
