Start-ups aren't for the faint-hearted.

The work from home policy and flexitime policies are really helpful, in that I can structure my days to suit myself.
Yola hires exceptionally talented and bright individuals, and working with them is an absolute pleasure. I have learned a lot about business, strategy and teamwork from Yola.
The managers and exec team are exceptionally transparent and very open to suggestions. In fact, when any issues arise, the exec call upon the staff to try find solutions. This is awesome, and displays the tremendous amount of trust that the upper management have in the team.

Being able to structure your work day to suit yourself is not how work should be. Work should be a set period of 9-10 hours, within which you work. You should then be able to go home and forget about work. Because Yola is a start-up, there's the drive to work 24/7, and working from home just exacerbates this and ends up making your job your life. This causes burnout, stress, dissatisfaction and relationship issues.
The start-up environment is also extremely limited, budget-wise. Don't expect a raise, a bonus or a budget for anything. Team members who leave are not replaced - the work just gets spread out among the remaining team, which just means everyone has to work harder.
