really low salaries, especially for new employees, e.g. a typical starting salary for faculty is $48K, even if they have 20 years of experience. Also, the college has been plagued by years inconsistent, poor or short-term leadership -- something like 10 presidents over a 25-year period (partly because leadership pay is also way below the market).

As a tutor, you feel very appreciated and supported in the environment around you and you truly feel like you're giving back to the community at the same time. Same goes for working in the IT department there as well.

Speaking as a tutor, the only real downside here is not as many hours are available to work as you might like but that is because of certain rules and not management's fault.
