Authentic people, genuine product, real work

If you follow YNAB's external communication at all (social media content, videos, help docs, etc), it's very apparent the company has a unique tone and strong "kool aid" culture - and I don't mean that in a bad way. YNAB attracts genuine, passionate people who truly believe in the power of their mission and product. That passion translates to working on a team with people who care about the company's success AND the customer's experience.
At most companies, as a seasonal customer service employee, I think it can be VERY easy to feel like you're the bottom rung of the ladder, expendable, etc, but that is most definitely NOT the case at YNAB. From the moment I accepted the job to now (about halfway through the season), I have felt valued and appreciated by other FT reps and my manager, and most importantly, I was setup for success with a fantastic (though somewhat rigorous) training program. Working remotely can be a real challenge, but YNAB really has it together!

If I had to come up with a con: I don't get to see my co-workers as often as I'd like to! I am so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work from anywhere in the world, but it comes at the cost of not being able to spend quality time with the awesome people that I get to work with.

There are endless pros to working at YNAB. Possibly the most important is that YNAB genuinely values each and every team member.
Remote work where you have the flexibility to care for your personal life and family is real here. Benefits are fantastic (I can only speak for the US), pay is competitive, and you will be reminded if you don’t take enough time off.
The people you work with are incredible. It’s easy to spend time in meetings with your coworkers because mutual respect, transparency and collaboration are lived out everyday, regardless of position or seniority.
When you're working at YNAB, you're truly doing work that matters. It feels like a small thing to read in a job review, but this makes a large impact on my quality of life.

Best job I've ever had!

When I first saw YNAB was hiring when I needed a career change, I told my husband I had found my dream job. And the crazy thing is, once I started working here, it was even better than I imagined! There are so many pros, I'll just highlight the top ones for me:
-The People: everyone has been phenomenal, so much so that there are days I wish we didn't work remotely and I could just see everyone face to face!
-Such great opportunities to learn and grow, not only in my position but as a person as well.
-Work/life balance is the best.

The only downside I can even come up with is that opportunities for advancement are limited due to the size of the company. But that's only a very small con since I'm not going anywhere else!

- If you have feedback for anyone in the company, they will always listen. (No. I mean really listen - like active listening with genuine responses.)
- If you have an idea for the product, it will be given due consideration. (No. I mean legitimate consideration.)
- If you have thoughts about the development process, someone wants to hear them. (No. I mean in a way that can actually impact the process.)
- If you don't take enough time off, someone is going to remind you to take it. (Seriously, they will send an actual email telling you to take more vacation time.)
- If you like flexible work hours, you can make your own schedule (within reason, of course - you do still have co-workers).
- If you like meeting interesting people, this company is full of them.
- The company's core values really are valued (and constantly emphasized).
- You will work on a product that has a significant impact on people's lives and you will regularly hear feedback on how your work is improving lives.
- There are some really smart people here, but none of them ever assume they're smarter than anyone else.
YNAB is a full of happy people who enjoy what they do. I have never heard anyone grumble or complain about managers, peers, or how things are done. Everyone has a high level of respect for everyone else, regardless of their role or how long they've been around. From your first day, you're trusted to make good decisions and work responsibly. Although everyone is expected to make significant contributions to the team, the environment has never been stressful. Work loads are very well-managed.
Compensation is competitive, and benefits are VERY competitive.
The annual company-wide retreat and team meetups are always great times to meet co-workers face-to-face for a few days.

This is a small company with one software product. If you want to climb ladders, all you're going to find is a step-stool (and turnover is very rare). (This would be the only reason to possibly rate "Career Opportunities" with 4 stars, but I rate it 5 stars because there are plenty of opportunities to advance your career technically and develop leadership skills though you may not officially receive a particular job title.)
Though it's not a challenge for me, some people can struggle working in a remote environment every day.

Working for YNAB is so fulfilling both the day-to-day tasks as well as providing a service that changes people's lives for the better every day. The management across all teams is super transparent and collaborative. There's very little hierarchy feeling. Always looking to make improvements and become an even more genuine company to work for. Great benefits and fully remote!

Honestly the only con would be salary, however they have a great bi-annual bonus structure as well as a yearly raise schedule.
