With the multiple Marketing teams I was a part of, the last two years with their current Marketing Director was simply the best professional team I’ve had the pleasure of working with. If you put your best foot forward with every project and keep a positive attitude, you will grow in your skills and career significantly. Unsure of the status as of their 2021 acquisition, but many HR initiatives were starting to have a tangible, positive effect on the organization. This was the ideal place to start my career - I gained more experience in the last three years than I had ever thought I would. This was sometimes due to a lean team, but mostly due to a truly great manager and leadership.

The organization was motivated by sales, so there was a high turnover rate to find the right team members. This made it difficult to implement new sales-enablement initiatives, especially with only a few salespeople participating in the initiatives we worked tirelessly to provide. In addition, some team members did not see their “world-on-fire” working style as a problem; I was often called to drop everything and turn around edited presentation/proposal materials for Sales within 24 hours with barely any thanks from the Sales staff (my manager was consistently in my corner and advocating for better notice - this was an organizational issue). When the pandemic hit and we switched to all-virtual, the early morning/late night emails and assignments grew with people always 5 seconds away from work - this was not as big an issue, but could be addressed if they stay out of the offices.

Best of luck in the continuing acquisition transition! Make sure you put some effort into growing a Marketing team that can support these new, great offerings to your clients. Also, take the time to truly understand and utilize the initiatives designed to support the sales staff. These enablement tools, when used correctly, could have been incredibly powerful.

Your focus on profits related to smart, charasmatic personalities who freeze out anyone not in their clique is unconsciousable and just generally bad business. These same personalities willing to step on anyone's head to succeed while management turns a blind eye to it and is unwilling to act as long as the profits keep rolling in.
An elelemnt of increased profits can be improved when a backbone is developed for having crucial conversations necessary to improve toxic working conditions.

Too many former marketing / former consultants in top positions with too much overhead. Margins are not in line with competition; set unrealistic financial goals then eliminate top talent when not achieved; pass on too much overhead costs to the account managers without their input; keep trying to distinguish the company with points of difference from competition with bs processes that are mostly smoke and mirrors; very enamored with former high level experts that have been long far removed from where work is actually done - great on strategy; short on being able to actually execute deliverables

Need to put true processes around sales and recruiting teams. Neither side should take the blame for failure. Trim margins a bit to open up opportunities to do more business with companies that are on the cusp of the greying effect. Look at breaking into the telecom business.
