Garden prides himself on "moving fast," but that's just a bi-product of his impatience and his need for instant gratification; not operational efficiency. The true "heart" of the company, Julia Collins, was removed. She was the only person who could stand up to Garden. A huge blow to morale. Garden routinely exaggerated, hid facts, or downright lied to employees,... 0.0 1.0 2.0 1.0 1.0 1335700 Open No No Mar 20th, 2019 09:38AM Mar 20th, 2019 09:38AM Zume Pizza
private:zumepizza https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=1335700 Jan 31st, 2019 12:00AM Open Open Zume Pizza Former Employee - Anonymous Employee Mountain View, CA USA "Horrible place to work" I worked at Zume Pizza full-time (Less than a year) - Some amazing people to work with- Lunch provided every day When I first started at Zume, it truly felt like a family. That changed very fast. Many people were fired for no reason except that they spoke up when things weren't working. All the people who poured their heart and soul into the company were let go with very little explanation. We were constantly given new tasks that were not only ridiculous and unrealistic, but with absurd deadlines. There is no such thing as work life balance at Zume. You are expected to be on the clock beginning at 7am until midnight or later. This includes weekends. There is also extreme sexism at Zume. There were many occurrences where I felt incredibly uncomfortable with how men spoke to me, and many other women felt the same.Similarly, most of the management who was brought on was purely based on where they had worked before, not about their morals or values. They are all "yes men" to the CEO, as everybody is afraid to tell him when things need fixing. Nobody is promoted based on hard work or merit, they are promoted only if they stay silent when the CEO is going on a rant about some crazy new idea and try to follow through with it. Not only that, a lot of management doesn't even know how the trucks operate in the field. How can you make decisions about a product when you don't even know how it works? The CEO does NOT care about his employees. He cares about money, and name dropping his connections. He does not inform the company of anything going on, so most of us were left in the dark. Suddenly, a major change would happen leaving many of us confused. Not only that, many employees are genuinely terrified to talk to him because they've seen his dark side on multiple occasions.Long story short, I would not recommend anybody to work at Zume. You can feel the energy that most people are unhappy in their jobs when you walk in the room. Not only that, many employees expressed their unhappiness to me outside of the office. -1.0 Doesn't Recommend 0.0 Neutral Outlook -1.0 Disapproves of CEO 1.0 1.0 1.0 2.0 3.0 1.0 1335700 Open No No Feb 1st, 2019 10:22AM Feb 1st, 2019 10:22AM Zume Pizza
private:zumepizza https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=1335700 Jan 11th, 2019 12:00AM Open Open Zume Pizza Software Engineer Mountain View, CA Changes need to be made Zume's an interesting place. There's defiantly potential in the company filled with a lot of pleasant people but my biggest concern is management. Some people have been hired that I feel will add a lot of experience to the company and may actually correct the direction of the troubled department. I feel comfortable talking to them and don't feel like I'm being attacked. That with the handful of awesome people I work with is the only reason I stay here. There are a few people in charge that spoil it for the rest with their lack of experience and unbelievably arrogant attitudes. Concerns have been raised many times there are issues needing to be addressed, but management doesn't care until it's an actual problem. A very reactive approach. There have been events where people have been belittled by someone in a position of power. This person preys on the individual and is a completely different person than in a group setting. This just leads to a toxic work environment where employees are scared and lack motivation because nothing they do is every "good enough". Communication is a huge problem here and has been broken for as long as I've been here. Most of the time, engineering has no clear direction of the business needs. Too much time has been spent doing "busy work". Micromanagement is strong at the company. Good luck making your own decisions, there are a select few "chosen ones" that have carte blanche to make all the decisions without taking your opinions or suggestions into account. I feel more like a code monkey than an engineer. I sure hope this isn't intentional but I have noticed systemic bias here. Get ready to work extra hard if you're a minority. Either way, intentional or not, it's unacceptable which I believe stems from the lack of experience. If the CEO or CTO read this, then seriously consider leadership training for a handful of individuals. Although, I don't believe training with help these individuals. Better yet remove them from the company; they're not hard to spot if you're looking for them. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NO_OPINION 26.0 1.0 3.0 1.0 2.0 3.0 1.0 0.0 1335700 Open Please take a look internally and clean some house. Nothing but lies from Alex. All big talk. They make the driver park the truck on the side of a street and finish off a parbaked (frozen) pizza they made the day before so the quality of the food suffers. Only those who don't have to handle the pizzas are somewhat happy with their jobs. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 12.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 2.0 1.0 1.0 0.0 1335700 Open Don't talk about treating people right when you take money from Saudi Arabia. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 1.0 Dec 29th, 2018 11:43AM Jul 1st, 2021 08:25AM Zume Pizza

I have loved it so far. 1. Working environment is the best I have ever had, IT department provides all necessary things you need for your engineering. 2. Great team members. I work with brilliant minds who really know what they are doing and expert on their speciality. Communicate pretty well and understand the technical challenges if any comes up. 3. It is a great learning environment. Other than software engineering, I have learnt a lot about hardware engineering, and other technologies. The company provides all of its employees the commercial learning platforms for free such as Linkedin learning, Udacity and etc. 4. In terms of benefits, I think the Zume Inc is the number in Bay Area. It provides all kind of the benefits for its employees. Nothing much. A little busier day but its completely fine if you really love your job. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 3.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 0.0 1335700 Open It would be better if the company made a bit harder and tougher for the hiring process (interviews) for software engineers to really evaluate the candidates for their analytical, technical, coding and communication skills. 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 1.0 Dec 23rd, 2018 10:56AM Jul 1st, 2021 08:25AM Zume Pizza

A lot. Pivot? Hardly. This was supposed to be all about pizza. They have raised a ton of money and spare no expense in regards to employee perks. CEO is a story teller. He spins yarns to employees, partners, and the press. Julia is delightful, though quite literally a figurehead who deserves better. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 15.0 2.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 4.0 1.0 0.0 1335700 Open 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 2.0 Nov 14th, 2018 07:30AM Jul 1st, 2021 08:25AM Zume Pizza
private:zumepizza https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=1335700 Sep 25th, 2018 12:00AM Open Open Zume Pizza Former Employee - Anonymous Employee "TOXIC place to work!!!" I worked at Zume Pizza full-time - Catered lunch- Some (and I only mean some) great people to work with Where to begin...I worked at Zume Pizza for about a year. I have never in my life worked for such a toxic place as Zume. The CEO, Alex, is a horrible human being who will scream at you if you try to tell him the technology doesn't work (which most if the time, it didn't..). The majority of leadership at the company are entitled white men, who think their ideas are right and everybody else is wrong. Let me tell you, folks, sexism is alive and well at Zume. Two of my coworkers, a man and a woman, did the exact same job, yet the man was paid double what the woman made, while she did majority of the work. Not only that, nobody at the company has any work-life balance. You slave away all day to go home and do the same thing, receiving emails and "urgent tasks" anywhere from 7pm-12am. This includes weekends. Many people who had poured their hearts and souls into the company were fired for completely unjustified reasons - it's all politics there. NOTHING is based on quality of work. The amount of times I witnessed people crying at work for someone speaking to them unprofessionally and cruelly is innumerable. Not only that, the HR team does absolutely nothing to help anyone at the company - so if you lodge a complaint about someone speaking to you inappropriately, trust me that nothing will be done to solve it. Most of the HR team is completely unapproachable and don't really want to help you.So my advice to you is, do NOT work at Zume Pizza if you want to enjoy your life. -1.0 Doesn't Recommend 0.0 Neutral Outlook -1.0 Disapproves of CEO 7.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 3.0 2.0 1.0 1335700 Open No No Oct 26th, 2018 09:57AM Oct 26th, 2018 09:57AM Zume Pizza
