The work itself is not difficult.
People are nice.

Workload is HEAVY. Sometimes difficult to perform well at your job when responses from other departments take a long time... that's when you realize that THEIR workload is also heavy. Seems like a company-wide issue.
Taking PTO is always stressful.

Actually LISTEN to your staff. Set your ego aside. Put your cellphone and computer away when we're trying to have an important conversation with you. Doesn't feel like we're asking for much.
Hire more women in upper management. I promise you that there are more competent female candidates out there - you just have to look harder. They will bring such a positive change to your organization.
All of upper management need to take refresher courses on communication, empathy, and anger management. Just because your boss yells at you, doesn't mean you can yell at me. Not a great feeling to be walking on eggshells around the management team.

Was a good place for many years, then management changed. Went from hiring the right person to hiring friends and relatives. Quality of employees has dropped as former management retired and moved on

Management is young and inexperienced lacks credibility and integrity. Management actually rehired a person with known drug use. Person came up hot on UA was dismissed and rehired.

They will work you to death. If the plant you are working for starts losing money, they will not fill jobs as needed. They will add the additional work to other workers which means you will be working more of your days off to the point you are working almost every time you are off until you are burnt out and find a better job. If you find a better job, they won't even thank you for being a valued employee with 14 years of perfect attendance or 26yrs of employment with no lost time accidents or absences. There is NO movement within the company unless you are in management. Once you are trained on a job, you stay there because there are only 5 different jobs in the plant and nobody wants to move. The only way to move is if somebody leaves or retires.

Value your employees - give them time to value their family time, because they can never get that time back. If an employee decides they need to look for another job, support that decision and actually THANK them for being a valued part of their team. Give them a retirement party if they have been there long enough to retire. The little things add up. Maybe after a short break from the company, that VALUED employee might want to come back instead of informing other potential employees of the dangers of working there. Be consistent with how you treat ALL employees.
