Fun and Great Team Atmosphere
|
Lightspeed was a great company to work for. They have great benefits and can be flexible.
The culture is one that makes you feel like you matter and what you do matters.
|
Outings, bonuses, opportunity to learn
|
Not as flexible with mental health days

Awful
|
The worst company I have ever worked for. The pay is abysmal and the working hours are long and unsociable. Constant micromanagement and a lack of transparency from management.

A real mixed bag with cult-like atmosphere
|
There is a real cult-like atmosphere where you are expected to "buy in" to the company and its message. There are all of these non-work-related activities that you feel pressured to attend and to hang out with your team outside of work hours.
The product itself is actually not great. Their company strategy of growth via acquisition has led to this sort of hodgepodge software that can be clunky and illogical to use. Having to find company-friendly ways to explain this to customers time and time again gets tiring.
Shows of favouritism in regards to promotions to management level. Some who are promoted are very obviously not the right person for the job, which fosters distrust and resentment within teams.
That being said, some managers are actually very, very good. They support and coach you, which really allows you learn and grow.
The benefits package is very good, but the pay itself is not.

It was a great foot in the door to the tech industry.
|
It was a great start back into the tech industry. At times I really enjoyed the work, other times it could be really stressful. Most of my coworkers were great. There were a few old hats that were awful to work with, but that was likely due to the fact they weren't getting promotions.

Striving company that uses its employees strengths
|
Each and every one of my colleagues was a delight to work with, and I felt really valued as an individual. There are several advancement opportunities and it feels like the company could keep striving despite the challenge bought by Coronavirus.

Potential for growth in the right direction
|
Lightspeed is a great first-job to have; lots of entry level positions in an office setting and not much background required. Lightspeed is where I learned how to use Salesforce, Microsoft Suite, Jira, Zendesk, and a host of other computer softwares that make my profile exponentially more valuable. An absolutely beautiful office in a fantastic location; fully stocked kitchen; free lunches and dinners for end-of-month. Growth at Lightspeed is very horizontal, making it relatively simple for you to move from one position/department to another.
However, that all came at a cost. Heavy loads of responsibilities for which we are not adequately compensated; long and often unpredictable hours with no guarantee of breaks. Management was unprofessional, played favourites. These were all concerns that were brought up to upper management and HR, but little was resolved. Lightspeed definitely fosters a certain culture for its employees - especially in sales; anyone who doesn't identify with that luxurious lifestyle and profile will most certainly feel left out. As someone who worked in a customer-service position, I can also say we were given very little assistance on dealing with upset customers which was outrageous. Not much to do other than to apologize and remind them that they are bound to a contract.
If you're able to put up with a great deal of stress, pressure, and competitive targets, then the reward is phenomenal and this may just be the place for you. If not, I would strongly advise you to reconsider before applying. My recommendation is to look for jobs at Lightspeed that - more...

Do not work there
|
Managers push employees only to make themselves look good.
Don't believe the image.
Not a good place to work.
They will suck you dry.
To them, the workforce is disposable.

Great Benefits and Work Environment.
|
Offers a great salary and benefits package and values collaboration and community. Quintessential "work hard, play hard".
Opportunities to learn and grow, and a plethora of job perks (kitchen with snacks, weekly happy hours, retreats, volunteer day off, vacation time and more).
