There is no operational or digital strategic thinking, so there is nothing really to design. Sure you can create TOMs and ideas but you'll spend most of your time trying to get buy-in from managers and execs.
The projects and programmes that are commissioned are very siloed and the delivery teams are just left to get on with it without any wider consideration of how everything fits together.
Japan head office keep changing their minds on what to invest in, so there are lots of false starts.
Also, your face either fits or it doesn't so you may be sitting next to someone who gets a much better bonus than you do just because they are friends with the right people

A good place to meet new people but a toxic place to work in and progress

- Excluding Management, the people working there are amazing and friendly.
|
- A toxic workplace with no regards to people’s mental health & wellbeing.
- Allowing management to break one’s self esteem & expecting it to be a norm.
- An unbelievable expectation for people to work crazy hours & even weekends. There is an unspoken expectation to be only committed to the workplace with no other passion or hobbies in life.
- Management acts like being the most supportive people while backstabbing you and using team members as scapegoat.
- Absolutely no transparency about what’s happening across the company.
- A delusional management, believing that team members will never break down due to pressure.
- Seniors & Management in the team commits to projects and deadlines without consulting the wider team & discussing what’s feasible or not. Then pressuring the team to deliver projects by their committed deadline even if shortcuts / rough methods have to be taken to achieve the project.
- Laugh to your manager’s jokes and you are safe.
- Lack of opportunity to grow and learn. Impossible to reuse the acquired knowledge as the followed methodology is wrong.
- Sadly, witnessed team members being cornered / bullied by bullies with no heart .
- Never speak about your personal life as they use it against you if necessary.
